Let the crap throwing begin...

I am just so PISSED OFF right now with all the crap that's going on here in Brazil. I don't know if it's in the international newspapers (God, I hope not), but there's a kind of upheavel happening up at Congress... Let's just say that someone started pulling a tiny little thread, and eventually unearthed a shitload of, um, shit, I guess. One of the big shitty things they've discovered is a big pay-off scheme, where hundreds of congressmen (and women) were being paid millions of Reals *monthly* (and unfortunately, I'm not exaggerating on the numbers here) in exchange for support to the government and votes on important issues. And the most interesting part is, the people that are being accused have decided that their best defend is not to defend themselves per se, but rather to go, "Yeah, I did it, but so did you, congressman, and you also did this and this and this, so you see? I may be bad, but I'm not as bad as you are." Which means that, with each hearing, more dirt is dug up, and right now, after a few months of this, I look at the Congress buildings and just see a really big pile of crap. And, you know, I *work* there.

Actually, watching the hearings is kind of entertaining, what with all the finger pointings and the horrified or indignant faces of the people being accused... Man, they should win Oscars. I can't figure out who to believe in. And it all just stops being entertaining the moment you realize that all those millions that they're talking about? Come from *my* taxpayer's money. You know, the money I give them in hopes of getting back decent healthcare, education, sanitation... And there's not much I can do about it, except wait for the next election and not vote for any of them. Other than that, I'm just watching and praying that they all end up in jail where they belong.

what would worry me is that people would still vote for them anyway and they might get back into office.
