Here's the thing. Boni's writing an HP fic based on Casablanca (which I'm having the pleasure of betaing). So I thought that it would be a good idea for a birthday present to vid HP to a Casablanca song :)
Here's the problem: which song to choose. I have two choices, so far:
1. The most obvious, "As Time Goes By". I'd even start with the Ingrid Bergman dialogue, "Play it, Sam, for old times sake" and all that, and use the Dooley Wilson version. The problem is that the song doesn't exactly work for a Harry/Draco slash vid. For one, there's the line "Woman needs man and man must have his mate". I could probably add in some Ron/Hermione to make it work, though, so I don't know. I liked the idea of putting the footage of Harry and Draco in the Forbidden Forest in the line that says "Moonlight and love songs, never out of date" ;) And there's tons of scenes from CoS for the "Hearts full of passion, jealousy and hate" and "It's still the same old story, a fight for love and glory, a case of do or die". So yeah, I think I could make it work...
2. "It Had to Be You". The lyrics seem just perfect for Harry/Draco (Harry POV), and I'm pretty sure it'd work perfectly. But it's not the most traditional Casablanca song, and I'd have to choose a version (either the Harry Connick Jr. version or the Frank Sinatra version... Are there any others?) I dunno... It just doesn't scream out Casablanca like "As Time Goes By" does...
Ok, so what do you guys think? I need help! I have to start this, her b'day is less than a month away!
