I woke up today with A-Ha music in my head. What is *wrong* with me?

Watched Lineage yesterday, finally... Amazing. I think I've come to a conclusion about Smallville: it *is* a good show, but it's stretched to death. It feels like people don't want things to happen too fast, so they put in filling episodes in between the ones that actually have plots. All the crappy episodes are the ones that either a) don't have plots *at all* (or at least none that matter); or b) seem to just hammer the same plots that have been presented in actual plot-driven episodes. Eventually I'll make a more thorough analysis of this to see if this works...
One thing that caught my attention in Lineage is how much wee!Clark looks like Tom Welling. Amazing :)
Also, I've come to the conclusion that most of you had already come to: Lionel *is* the devil. Damn. Next vidding project: "Sympathy for the Devil". Oh yes. I've been putting it off because the song's too complicated and too long (it's almost 7 minutes, but I think I can shorten it quite a bit), but Lionel *deserves* to have his own vid.
Ok, so it's not my *next* vid. I have two important vids to make first, but it's right after those :)

on 2002-12-18 06:40 am (UTC)Yes! *does dance of vid enabling* Don't forget, you can use Brimstone footage, too, if you can get ahold of it.

on 2002-12-19 08:17 am (UTC)a-HA! *rubs hands gleefully* "Brimstone" was an extremely short-lived (13 eps) but slashy series in which John Glover played the Devil.

on 2002-12-18 08:23 am (UTC)I wonder if they're having trouble with their pacing, given the nature of the overall plot. They know that they're ultimately moving towards Clark becoming Superman, Lex becoming evil, Clark and Lex becoming enemies, etc., and since no TV show knows how long it's going to last, they might not know how to pace themselves. Especially if they weren't expecting the show to be this popular and therefore last longer.

They definitely did an excellent job casting both Baby!Clark and Baby!Lex. Although it cracks me up in "Lineage" that when they cut from the scenes from the Pilot to the new ones, Baby!Clark is clearly a year older. :o)
Also, I've come to the conclusion that most of you had already come to: Lionel *is* the devil. Damn.
Yes. But he's... magnificent. :o)
Next vidding project: "Sympathy for the Devil". Oh yes.
Oh, very yes. That would be fantastic.

on 2002-12-19 06:32 am (UTC)Well, they *do* have a timeline to work with, kind of. Clark doesn't become Superman until he leaves Smallville (if you're going with the movie verse). Lex is only shown as his enemy when he's already in Metropolis, which we have to assume happens after he graduates from college (although this might be changed for the show). So they have at *least* three more seasons to go with Clark figuring out his destiny and his relationship with Lex.
I actually think they know what they want to do and how fast they want to do it. I believe they've set a few goals for each season, but they have to figure out how to space these out through the episodes. They're doing a lousy job of it so far...

Not to mention the tan! That kid must have spent the entire year at the beach :)
Yes. But he's... magnificent. :o)
Oh, definitely!

Yay! One more vote! :)

on 2002-12-18 02:25 pm (UTC)Hmm, I like that theory. It would be interesting to test it against each episode.
