I can't actually comment on too much of the new Smallville stuff because *covers eyes and dances about* alas, Britain is behind and I didn't read it, but I did see the bit about Lex killing Lionel. I'd like to say two things:
Lionel. If Lex kills him...well. He'll never forgive himself. Or at least, the depiction we currently have of Lex wouldn't. I hope you know what I mean here - the big bad evil Lex we're supposed to have in the future is someone who will move on, I'm sure, but NOW? Yes he killed Nixon - for Jonathon (read as 'Clark'). If he killed Lionel, he wouldn't have anything, any reasons to blame it on other than himself. We know he hesitated in

If he killed Lionel, he wouldn't have anything, any reasons to blame it on other than himself. We know he hesitated in <i<>Vortex, but ultimately he helped Lionel - he has an incredibly vulnerable side and I think overall he doesn't want to be alone. He might hate Lionel, but at least Lionel is there, and for all that he's a bastard, he's kept Lex afloat in the past. But that's it - Lex needed Lionel before, when he was rebelling and getting expelled and generally being a fuckwit, but now he knows where he's going, and he is trying to do his best to break free of Lionel. It's difficult to make these judgements based just on what I've seen, not least because we're only seven episodes into season 2, but also because of reading fic. The lines between canon and what I've read do tend to blur, but that's often because I've seen what is written as acceptable in canon. And many fics have had a rebelling Lex who doesn't give a shit because whatever he does, no matter how far he pushes it, Lionel will cover it up. It has a lot to do with trying to find himself and trying to get a reaction out of Lionel, too, but basically, Lionel wasn't going to leave him - (even if it was only to keep his heir going and stop the family name being disgraced.) Now, though - Lex is sorted out, and he doesn't need Lionel. That's the problem. Because he doesn't want him. I think he wants to want him, he wants to have a good family relationship with his Dad and something more than stupid business games - that's why in Vortex when Lionel took his hand I whimpered and half died - but Lionel is doing nothing to keep that. And with nothing to gain, Lex won't put up with it for long. So, after all that babble, I think my point is that I agree!
And Lex? - I love Lex. That's all. :D
Ok, that was long. Sorry, got carried away! Last thing though; is that the new Linkin Park song? I heard that on the radio a week or so back - I LOVE that song! *grins*
