Vid-a-holics Anonymous

You know you're a vid-a-holic when...

1. you try to imagine a vid for *every single song* you listen to, from classical to hard rock, children's songs, irish ballads... Whatever.

2. you get nervous every time a new vid comes out for your fandom, wondering if the vidder used the same song you were thinking of vidding.

3. you curse the guy/girl who wrote the lyrics, because s/he used the word "girl" when he *should* have used the word "boy". How dare s/he?!

4. you wonder if people will notice if you just dubbed over that word. Because the song would be just *perfect*, dammit!

5. you spend hours and hours on the internet looking for new songs to vid, and at some point contemplate writing your own damn song because you just can't find exactly what you need.

*ahem* Not that I do any of these things, of course.

Oh, God. This is so my biggest worry right now. That's why I'm desperate to get my cable internet so I can upload the damn things... I currently have six living on my HD, and every day that passes is one more day of someone else using *my* songs! :)

Well, according to [livejournal.com profile] bonibaru, if you post the vid songs and ideas in your LJ, you're calling Shotgun. At the very least, you can later point at whoever uses your songs and laugh ;)

Yay, new SV vids! Can't wait to see them :) If you need help with anything... Although I can't imagine what I could do, short of installing the cable modem myself ;)

Hi. You don't know me, but those are all quite true, for me anyway.

I try to avoid the overlapping-song-choice problem by using songs from rather obscure bands. It helps. And, hey, it's sometimes interesting to see what two or more people choose to vid to the same song.

And it might be possible to ignore the wrong-gender pronouns and nouns if you're doing a funny vid; I'm hoping to try that soon myself.

I *do* know you. At least a little. From [livejournal.com profile] vidding :)

The nice thing about subscribing to mp3.com (http://www.mp3.com/) is that you get to hear new singles as soon as they come out. And they have a lot of obscure bands there, too...

Or I could vid to brazilian music. I'm sure no one would use the same songs as I did :) Of course, no one would understand the lyrics, either :P

As for vids using the same song, it *is* interesting to see what different people use, but I'd probably be tempted to, you know, merge my vid with the other person's vid or something.

Oh yeah, lots of rules bend for funny vids :) I like making those. I'm in a silly mood right now, and at least two of my next vids will (hopefully) be funny. And then I'm feeling a schmoop fest coming up :)
